Morningpaw had had to stop on the way back to camp to go back and retrieve her mouse even though her shoulder still needed to be looked at. The cobwebs that Rabbitpaw had put on her wound were completely soaked with blood and starting to fall off and she was leaving scraps of marigold behind her whenever she moved. She limped away from her younger escort and dropped her mouse on the fresh kill pile just as the medicine cat appeared out of their den, eyes wide with worry.
((Frilly has the medicine cat, but I'm going to do a temporary one since she's been inactive)) The medicine cat had been drawn out into camp by the smell of blood and their eyes widened when they saw Morningpaw's shoulder. Ducking back into the medicine den, the medicine cat came back out a moment later with fresh marigold, cobwebs and poppyseeds. "Morningpaw, what's happened?" they asked as they began taking the old dressing off of the apprentice's wound. A curious glance was cast at Rabbitpaw, but the older cat was silent until Morningpaw responded.
"I was out hunting with Rabbitpaw and," she paused and gasped when the medicine cat touched her wounded shoulder. "And I slipped on the snow and cut my shoulder on a rock," she lied easily as if she'd had the story prepared from the start. "I was just carelss."

Rabbitpaw blinked in shock at Morningpaw's lie. Did she just lie, to protect me? I think she just did. He was so surprised, he almost forgot where he was. Rabbitpaw looked up and remembered what he was doing. Rock. Yup, rock. Rabbitpaw agreed hastily. He could talk in sentences around his mom, Mud, and Morningpaw but around other cats...Not so much. Fix her. Now! Rabbitpaw demanded the medicine cat. Sure it was a bit rude, but this was no time for manners! Morningpaw was bleeding a waterfall here! They didn't have time for trivial nonsense like that. Rabbitpaw glared at the medicine cat expectantly.

Morningpaw managed to drag her brown eyes up to look at Rabbitpaw before her head sagged again. She was feeling a little woozy from blood loss and didn't feel like wasting energy lifting up her head. The medicine cat gave Rabbitpaw a sharp look before applying the marigold paste carefully to Morningpaw's wound. She flinched and shied away from the older cat's touch as they began packing cobwebs onto the wound. They nudged a couple poppy seeds towards Morningpaw which she quickly licked off the leaf they were on.
"You can't go back to your training until this is healed," the medicine cat told her firmly.
"But!" Morningpaw's eyes stretched slightly as she looked up at the medicine cat.
"Relax, it should only take half a moon if it doesn't get infected," the medicine cat paused when Morningpaw squeaked softly at the thought of her shoulder getting infected. "At the longest," they added and turned around. "I want you to sleep in the medicine den," the older cat called back to Morningpaw.
The yellow apprentice sighed and looked over at Rabbitpaw. "It could be worse." Her voice was quiet due to the lingering lightheadedness, but otherwise she seemed fine.

I'm sorry Morningpaw. Rabbitpaw apologized as soon as the medicine cat walked away. I did this to you. I put off your training. He shook his head in disgust. He really wanted to make it up to Morningpaw. Tell you what, I'll bring you the best fresh kill in the pile everyday until your healed and, uh, what else? Rabbitpaw paused in wonder at what else he could do for her. It'll get lonely sleeping in the medicine den. He thought. That's it! And I'll stay with you in the medicine den until you're healed. Rabbitpaw assured her. Anything else you want Morningpaw? He asked.

Morningpaw gave a somewhat shy smile. "You don't have to do all that," she meowed, shaking her head slightly. "I forgive you anyways," she assured him. Though it would be nice to have some company in the medicine den. Half a moon could seem like seasons if she had to spend it alone. "I'm sure I can manage my way to the fresh kill pile, at least," she purred, looking towards the medicine den. She sighed, deciding she didn't want to go there just yet.

Too late! Rabbitpaw laughed as he lugged a plump rabbit over to Morningpaw. He had grabbed it while she was in the middle of talking. You want to share it? It looks big enough for three of you! Rabbitpaw nudged the rabbit with his paw. It was pretty big. Say, when were done eating, you want to go play or something? He asked hopefully. Not anything to rough though, considering your shoulder. You know, something like hide and seek or something safe like that. Rabbitpaw tried to think of safe things they could play.

Morningpaw laughed as Rabbitpaw dragged the rabbit over to her. "Fine, you win," she mewed and sniffed at the rabbit. "Let's share it," she mewed in aggreement. She waited for him to divide the rabbit and wondered for a moment if he'd forgotten her injury when he suggested that they play. The thought vanished when he specified a safe game and she nodded with a grin. "Yeah, hide and seek sounds like fun," she purred, wrapping her tail around her paws as she spoke.

Rabbitpaw divided the rabbit evenly and ate his half; he waited for Morningpaw to eat her half. Hide and seek it is then! He shouted playfully. Rabbitpaw looked down in embaressment when other cats looked at him because he shouted. You want to hide or seek first? Rabbitpaw asked Morningpaw. That's a very serious question if you have an injury. Hiding is the funnest, but she get hurt if she tried to find a hiding place. If she was the seeker, she might get to busy trying to find me and not watch where she was going. He thought in alarm. Maybe hide and seek isn't as safe as I thought.

Morningpaw thought for a moment. "I think I'll hide first," she mewed thoughtfully and carefully stood up. She looked over at Stormfeather and nodded to show she'd heard him. "I will," she assured the medicine cat. The poppy seeds and other herbs were working. Her shoulder wasn't hurting her and the bleeding had stopped. She looked at Rabbitpaw and nodded to show she was ready. Her head swept back and forth as she scanned the camp for a good hiding place. She needed one where she could easily hide without agitating her injury, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem. "Okay, ready?' she asked with a playful grin.

Uhh, thanks. Rabbitpaw nodded awkwardly to Stormfeather. Okay! I'm ready! He shouted to Morningpaw. Rabbitpaw scrunched his eyes shut and started counting. One! Two! Three! Four! Five! Six! Seven! Eight! Nine! Ten! Eleven! Twelve! Thirteen! Fourteen! Fifteen! Sixteen! Seventeen! Eighteen! Nineteen! Twenty! Rabbitpaw stopped to catch his breath when he was finished counting. Ready or not! Here I come! He looked around, wondering where his new friend was hiding.

Morningpaw nodded and waited until she was sure Rabbitpaw's eyes were closed before moving away from him. She looked around to relocate her hiding spot and slunk towards one of the smaller tunnels that wasn't being used for a den. She slipped inside the tunnel and nosed some old moss to the entrance to help hide her scent. Now all that was left was to lay down and wait for Rabbitpaw to find her.

Rabbitpaw opened his mouth to let all the scents enter his glands. He could smell many things; freshkill, clancats, and the wind. But he couldn't scent Morningpaw. She most likely hid her scent. What a smart she-cat. He thought as he peered behind a large rock. Morningpaw may have diguised her scent, but I'll still find her! Rabbitpaw poked his nose in a thick patch of heather. He sighed in frustration, would he ever find her? Rabbitpaw walked stealthily into the medicine den, accidentally bumping into a pile of marigold. Aww foxdung! Stupid... Rabbitpaw paused his thought....Marigold. He finished his thought. That's it! He shouted and ran outside. Rabbitpaw let the scents fill his gland again, searching for any hints of marigold.

A set of brown eyes peeked over the moss to try and see where Rabbitpaw was. Morningpaw ducked down again as she saw him heading into the medicine den. She focused on remaining still, quiet and trying to be invisible as she waited for Rabbitpaw to find her.
((Getting kind of tired, sorry > <))

Rabbitpaw smirked when the scent of marigold filled his glands. He followed the scent carefully, not wanting to lose it. Rabbitpaw had to stop a few times to regain the marigold scent. You're as good as found. Rabbitpaw padded closer and closer to the tunnel Morningpaw was hiding in. He poked his face in. Found you! Rabbitpaw laughed.
[[Short and sucky. Sorry it took so long to update, I was grounded.]]
