The tabby she-cat sat just to the entrance of camp, leaning against a willow tree. She pushed her forehead against the bark, grinding her teeth. Silkwind's eyes were shut tight as they could possibly be, and she was tying very hard not to cry.
"Silky?" he came up to her slowly, lowered to such a deep crouch his chin almost touched the soil. It was a complete show, of course. He didn't mean her harm, he could sense something was wrong.
The warrior and the medicine cat were similar in appearance, almost as if they were related; though where her stripes began, his ended with speckled hairs and spots. It was probably that light difference among the heavy similarity that drew him to her, but it was hard to tell.
"You...you okay?"
Silkwind turned toward him, her violent shoving letting off. "I'm fine." Her cheek pressed gently where her forehead had been. "Am I needed?"
"You're being...rather eloquent his evening." he purred, raising his head slightly.
"I don't mean to." she shrugged, then turned so she wasn't facing him. "Wha'd'you want?"
Ivyeyes rose up completely and forced a smile. "Just checking up on you. Don't stay out here all night again," he said. "You'll end up like that little Thunderclan she-cat, the sad one."
Silkwind didn't respond for a moment, just listened intently to her breathing in the quiet. His breath softened and disapeared completely, as if he were gone.
And when Silkwind turned, he was. She was alone again, and heaving a small sigh, returned to her former state.
The press of her forehead, however, was somehow lighter, and her eyes were merely narrowed to slits. For a moment or two, the cat felt as if she were missing company.
