Cloverstar slowly made her way towards the trail that marked the border. She often liked to come here and just sit and watch the larger animals pass by. Sometimes, she would even see a ThunderClan cat hunting or spy a border patrol as they passed. She slowed to a stop in front of one of the bushes that outlined the path. She lifted her muzzle and inhaled deeply, trying to find anything that smelled dangerous. After finding nothing that seemed like a threat she squeezed under the bush and came up on the other side, right on the trail. After pacing up and down for a bit, she rubbed her cheeks on various rocks and pieces of undergrowth, adding her scent to emphasize the border. Finally, she chose a spot on her side of the border and just settled down.
Now was Cloverstar's 'alone time' which was something she didn't get much of as leader. She glanced up as a young buck came parading down the tail. His head was held high and his stumpy tail stuck straight up as he walked. As his antlers his a low hanging branch, a leaf came spiraling down to land squarely on the light pelted she-cat's head. It was a good thing she wasn't trying to blend in because she had chosen a spot in the sunlight and the sun has a habit of making white or near white pelts glow.
Her ears angled forward slightly and she was suddenly alert when she heard a rustling from the ThunderClan side of the border. She didn't call out to whatever was there or try to run, she just stayed perfectly still except for the occasional twitching of her tail.

It was a beautiful day in the thunderclan lands. As beautiful as it could be on a cold winter day that is. Fat looking Starlings floated from one branch to another as they searched for any sort of dry bedding for their winter nests. Their feathers caught the sunlight and sent a flash as their shiny feathers reflected the light back at the young tom as he walked by. A small mouse sniffed at the entrance of its hole then turned away and reentered it's nest. A large three point buck gazed around as it scurried past, a sad attempt to follow a larger, older, five point buck.
Small golden paws walked softly along as the soft leaves squished under foot. Soulstar's icy eyes flicked back and forth as he swayed his tail and wandering around. He didn't really have any sort of plan for the day, mainly he wanted to get away from everything, especially the clan. Pausing for a moment near the base of Lightning Rock he gazed upward, towards the sky. The branches of the sparse pine trees brushed the surface of the stone with a delicate looking touch. He gave a small smile before turning towards the border and padding towards it, maybe a border patrol wouldn't hurt
He parted his jaws and breathed in a deep breath as he walked, the scent of Shadowclan was slowly growing stronger with every single step. Rocks dotted the ground along with wet leaves and small twigs. The winter winds had done a lot of damage to the tree tops, that and the heavy weight of the snow. He perked his ears as he neared the border, a scent he recognized entered his range. Cloverstar? Padding forward, still on the Thunderclan side of the boarder he paused and gazed towards Shadowclan, spotting the radiant white ball of fur. "G'morning Cloverstar! How've you been?

Cloverstar had started to doze off when she heard someone call her name. Her eyes opened completely and blinked to clear her vision when the voice addressed her again. A smile appeared on her face when she recognized the voice and appearance of Soulstar. "Good morning, Soulstar!" Cloverstar mewed as she stretched and sat down. "I've been well. And how's the prey running in ThunderClan?" she asked. She curled her tail around her paws and sat up straight.
((Ahh shortness!))

Icy blue eyes ran over the surroundings and finally the she cat sitting in the patch of sunlight. He swished his tail to his side and brushed a spot of snow off his flank. Leaves broke off of their perch upon the tree branches and slowly spiraled down to the ground, landing without a sound only to be crunched underfoot. Soulstar padded up slowly to the borderline, the scent of Shadowclan was strong hanging in the air like a large wooden fence would separate houses. He smiled a small half smile, "Prey is running fine in Thunderclan. Harsh winter is taking a toll on all the clans it seems." He dipped his head towards the Shadowclan territory and asked, "How's it going over there, not to harsh I hope?"

Cloverstar nodded slowly to Soulstar's response and moved to sit in front of him while staying on her side of the border. "Things in ShadowClan....could be worse," she mewed, pausing in the middle of her sentence to think. "But Leafbare is Leafbare. Most of the prey are still holed up in their nests," she meowed with a sigh. She'd have to see to it that a hunting patrol went out when she got back. Her smile that had vanished when she started thinking about hunting came back once she looked back at Soulstar.
"But I'm sure we've both seen harsher Leafbare," she mewed optimistically. She tilted her head to one side as if thinking about something but wound up shaking her head. "So what have you been up to recently?" she asked. "Any foxes or badgers you've chased over the border?" She twitched her ears and laughed softly to show that she was mostly joking about the last statement.

With a shuffle of paws Soulstar tucked his hind legs neatly under him as he seated himself onto the crunchy leaves of winter. He flexed his claws just for the means of stretching, along with that he rolled his shoulders pulled his head back. He parted his jaws in a huge yawn and flicked his ears back. Perking his ears again he sighed and looked around "True, true, it has been worse. At least it isn't a blizzard!" He smiled and pulled his tail around his soft looking paws. "Well it's good Shadowclan is doing fine." He smiled and watched with interest as a scrawny squirrel crawled through the bare branches of a large oak tree. Only a few moments later he jumped into the spiny branches of a pine.
Flicking his blue gaze over Cloverstars soft white pelt he shrugged and quickly pulled his gaze away before answering. "Ahh I've been fine. No intruders, so to speak. We did have a wolf the other day, scared him into the upper Shadowclan territory." He smiled and flicked his tail over the border at an attempt to pat her paw. "Nah, if anything I would have it sent into rogue lands." He flashed her a charming smile before nodding towards the upper Thunderclan Shadowclan border. "It was just near the border, hopefully it has moved on. It was a scrawny little thing, might have been sick."

Cloverstar followed Soulstar's gaze to the squirrel and watched it as it jumped into the tree. She made no move to go after it, she just looked back at Soulstar. "A wolf huh?" she mused, looking up towards where it had last been spotted. "My patrols haven't reported anything, but I'll be sure to let them know to keep their eyes open," she meowed and grinned at Soulstar. "Thanks for lettin' us know," she mewed with a small purr.
"So did big brave Soulstar show that nasty wolf what for?" Cloverstar asked him in an admiring, but somewhat sarcastic, tone. When he flicked his tail at her paw, she moved her paw quickly in an attempt to pin his tail and her dusky green eyes flashed playfully.

The squirrel shifted in the tree, searching for anything edible. Several pine needles fell from the branches and sprinkled Soulstars pelt. He glanced for for a few seconds as the squirrel made its way to the trunk and attempted to make it's way down. It paused mid trunk and scurried back up when it spotted the two cats. Soulstar pulled his attention from the squirrel when Cloverstar stepped on his tail. He smiled and inclined his head towards her a bit. "Not a problem, I wouldn't like to see any Shadowclanners fall victim to a wolf. Especially a small one." A small purr rose in his throat as he flicked his tail playfully away and shifted slightly. "But hey, forget the wolf for the moment. How has your life been going?"

"You callin me small?" Cloverstar mewed, trying to sound feisty. She fluffed up her white and pale red fur to try and look bigger, but shrugged and abandoned the display suddenly feeling self conscious that Soulstar might start to think she was strange. Besides, she was small so at least the other leader wasn't lying. "My life's been going okay, when the apprentices weren't acting up, that is," she purred.
"What about you?" she asked casually. She mentally scolded herself, thinking that she had already asked that question, or at least something similar. She remained calm though and didn't bother trying to correct herself because she'd just trip over her words and make herself look foolish. She felt her fur grow slightly warmer, but she ignored it for now.

An amused but pleased smile crossed the golden leaders face as she fluffed up. She looks like a little cute kitten. He immediately scolded him self for the thought. He kneeded the ground as he stared at if for a moment, trying to remove his thoughts from the way the sun shone off of her fur and the cute, but eventually annoying way of her fluffing up and attempting to look larger than she was. He flicked his ear as if a piece of snow had fallen upon it. Then he smerked, "Naw, of course I am not calling you small! Just a little ball of....spunky and smart fur. All brains. Very fast." He had stood up and padded up to her, but still on the border. He stood about a tail length from her and he tilted his head to the left playfully as she calmed down then asked the same question again. "I could be better" he smiled cheerfully at her, "But I am fine. Nothing bad really has happened. Except for that wolf...the ones little cats need to watch for." He purred and turned swishing his tail towards he before sitting again, "Your stronger than you seem you know?"

Cloverstar sat up proudly. "Smart, that's right," she purred. "But I got some muscle. Not all brains you know," she mewed bringing her tail around to rest over her paws.
"Of course I know. That's why I'm leader," she mewed boastfully before shaking her head to show that her ego wasn't really that big. "How do you figure?" Ah, there was the serious reply to his statement. Her green eyes locked onto Soulstar's blue ones as she waited for her answer.

Soulstar smiled and listened to her smooth voice as she talked. He shifted slightly before shaking his pelt, sending pine needles flying in every which way direction. Turning he faced Cloverstar as she spoke. He smiled before she spoke her last sentence. He flicked his right ear before shrugging and answering "Well you stepped on my tail pretty hard" He smirked and shook his head "You just seem like a strong cat, whether it be physically or mentally".
((Horrible sorry...))

Before she could stop herself, Cloverstar gasped softly. "Did I hurt your tail?" she asked. She hadn't meant to hurt Soulstar, but she would feel bad if she accidentally did. Then, realizing that she sounded like a fretting queen, she sat up and cleared her throat. "I mean....sorry," she mewed quickly, looking away from Soulstar briefly and then looking back with a friendly smile.
"Think fast," she mewed as if trying to change the subject. With one of her front paws, she swiped at the forest floor, tossing some pine needles at the golden leader. Her expression changed from an embarrassed one to a more playful one as she glanced up to see his reaction.

Soulstar had a faint smile on his face as Cloverstar spoke, but eventually he stood up and shook his coat, sending more pine needles around. He sighed and shook his head, it was useless, the darn needles stuck to you no matter what. He perked his ears when she cleared her throat and tried to sound tough, he smiled. "You really shouldn't try to act all tough Cloverstar, I like you better as your natural self." After he said that he ducked, pressing his soft creamy belly to the forest floor in a way to dodge the pine needles. With a purr he pushed leaves at her, sending them flying. The bad thing was he didn't realize there was a few pebbles in it's mass, if they hit her he wouldn't have meant to.

Cloverstar looked surprised for a moment and then smiled slightly. "Hmm, alright but only cuz you said so," she meowed with a tone that implied that it was going to be a pain. She grinned when he ducked, but didn't react quite fast enough to dodge the leaves. But that's alright, they were just leaves. Wrong.
Suddenly, Cloverstar gasped and closed her left eye. One of the pebbles had struck her cheek. The gasp was more because she was surprised than harmed. She hadn't been expecting the 'leaves' to hit her so hard. But her stinging cheek soon stopped hurting and she looked at Soulstar with a sheepish grin. "Pebbles," she explained, shrugging.
