Cloverstar gasped when Soulstar sat up and she tumbled back winding up on her back with her paws in the air. She blinked once before it registered that her back was wet and cold and she struggled not to revert to apprentice mindset where she would have flipped out and groomed herself frantically until her fur shone again. This time, she got up as calmly as she could and shook herself dislodging a few leaves and clumps of snow. "That wasn't very nice, you know," she sniffled. "Making the poor little she-cat fall over," she looked up at him with the puppy dog pout. Well he did say that she shouldn't act all tough all the time. Perhaps innocent and 'cute' would be better.

Soulstar smiled at her as she landed on the squishy leaves and shifted slightly. 'That wasn't very nice you know' he flicked his ears back then forward before speaking. "I'm sorry. Did I hurt you?" He purred at her as she sat back up and sniffled, 'Making the poor little she-cat fall over'. He shifted towards her slightly and swung his tail up around her shoulders as if to give her a hug. "I'm sorry, I didn't realize the 'little she-cat' would lose her balance so easily." He stopped talking and tilted his head sideways and gazed at her and her cute little face. He smiled slightly "You do cute better than tough you know".[/color]

"The little she-cat only lost her balance because she is small and the mean ol' tom is so big," Cloverstar mewed, pretending to sulk and smiled again at his next comment. "You really think so?" she asked, starting to purr. For the moment, it wasn't registering with Cloverstar that she was in a different Clan than Soulstar which she would've been reminded of constantly if they were talking over the border. But she liked it here better. Here they could play without worrying about that silly border. "Well you said I shouldn't do tough, so I thought I'd try something different."

"Mean ol' tom eh?" He smiled and shifted to the left, letting his tail fall onto the leaves. "Am I really that evil? I thought that was the job of Shadowclan. 'To strike fear into the hearts of others' is your quote isn't it?" He purred to show he was joking and lifted a paw to swipe a leaf away from his paw. He turned and looked to the creek, he then pushed himself to his paws and padded over to the creek, he gazed into it. "Well I'm glad you tried it." He looked over his shoulder "It fits you." He turned back to the Thunderclan creek and watched it as it flooded into the Shadowclan creek then towards the Windclan and Riverclan creeks. "Together at last?" he whispered to himself as he stood still on the waters edge.

Cloverstar shrugged. "It might be, but no cat can be sure. It's ShadowClan's secret," she teased and watched him go over to the creek. It fits you. Cloverstar's eyes widened shyly and she ducked her head to hide her change in expression. You can't feel this way, you can't feel this way. Just friends, remember? She scolded herself as she walked over to sit next to Soulstar, defying herself once again. "What was that?" She'd heard him mutter something, but she didn't hear what he'd said. The words may not have even been meant for her to hear, who knows.

Soulstar gazed at his face in the water, his bright blue eyes reflecting fear for himself back at him. What am I doing? he had the answer but didn't want to respond to himself. He smiled slightly at her response to 'Shadowclans motto', but he shifted slightly and turned his gaze to Cloverstar as she say by him. "Oh nothing, more like a ... small murmur." He smiled at her for a moment before pulling his gaze from her. "So anyways...um...any new arrivals in Shadowclan? We haven't had any, although it seems like everyone is more than willing to go searching for a wolf or find more prey than another one. It's quite amusing really."[/color]

Cloverstar shook her head. "No new arrivals yet. But it should only be a matter of time before a tom," she paused and looked up from the water, "and a she-cat fall madly in love and the nursery shall be occupied once again." She told the whole scenario with an optimistic tone. "But then again, you know us ShadowClan cats," she joked and gave his shoulder a friendly nudge with her nose. "It could be seasons before there's more of us, eh?" She shook her head to show she was still kidding and wrapped her tail neatly around her paws. "ThunderClan seems to be more willing to spread the love," she mewed, still trying to add to her little joke.

'No new arrivals yet. But it should only be a matter of time before a tom' He perked his ears and looked to her again before she continued to speak. He raised an eyebrow, wondering if there was some underlying meaning in that statement. 'But then again, you know us ShadowClan cats'. He smiled "Do I?" He pushed himself into a sitting position and gazed at her as she spoke. 'ThunderClan seems to be more willing to spread the love' He tilted his head and looked away for a moment, staring towards the center meeting point of the four creeks. "Is that supposed to have an underlying meaning Cloverstar"

'Is that supposed to have an underlying meaning?' Cloverstar's eyes snapped to Soulstar for a moment before she forced herself to look back at the water. "I-" she was surprised when her voice cracked and she had to start over. "I don't know, Soulstar. Should it?" she asked, pushing a leaf around with her paw to give herself something to do so she wasn't kneading the ground nervously. Look at this, the leader of ShadowClan acting like a lovestruck apprentice. And all of it over a tom that she wasn't allowed to have. Her fur grew warmer the more she thought about it and she lifted one of her front paws off the ground to roll her shoulder back and banished the thoughts. She just focused of Soulstar and glanced at him occasionally before going back to pushing around her leaf.

Soulstar flicked his gaze from the rippling water waves to the white and orange Shadowclan leader. The leader he had started to love, even though he knew he shouldn't. 'I' he perked his ears and searched her face for a hint of any emotion that would give her away. He swallowed nervously at what she said next 'I don't know, Soulstar. Should it?' "Well....." I am surely going to go to Crescentclan for this! "It should. Or could. if you feel a certain way about someone." He swallowed and looked away quickly, but unable to keep his gaze away he looked back to Cloverstar.[/color]

If Cloverstar didn't overheat then surely her rapidly beating heart would just give out on her. She looked at Soulstar with widened eyes. What is he saying? she asked herself taking a deep breath to dry and calm herself. "Well," she began, searching for the right words to say. This was so against the rules. "What if I did feel a certain way about..." you "someone?" she ventured, looking at her paws and then daring to look up to Soulstar.

Soulstar gazed into her eyes for a long moment before flicking it away. 'Well'. Well? He turned his gaze back to hers as she spoke. "Well If you did feel a certain way about someone you should probably tell them." As I should tell you. He flicked his tail to cover his hind paws as he swallowed nervously. "Even if it breaks the rules of old. Rules have been broken and bended for seasons upon seasons". Although I am pretty sure that this is not just a simple rule break[/color]

Tell him? Alright then.
Cloverstar took another deep breath and gathered all of her courage. The courage would be needed for she was about to break one of the biggest rules out there and expose her feelings for possible ridicule. Here goes nothing. "Soulstar, I love you. I know I shouldn't, but I do." The words came out in a rushed stream and all of the small leader's courage went with it. She crouched after she spoke as if afraid he might swipe at her and stared at the leaf that she'd been pushing around earlier. The only part of her that still faced Soulstar was her ears as she waited for his reaction.

He had turned his gaze away from her as the thoughts raced through his mind. Well how do you feel Soulstar? he asked himself. He watched a small leaf flow over and under small waves making its way towards a stronger current at the center of Four Creeks. I love her. For how long? Awhile. But it's against the rules. Do you care? He stumped himself but was shaken from his thoughts at her response. 'I love you'. He froze, muscles tensing. He turned his cool blue gaze to Cloverstar as she seemed to shiver and crouch down lower. He swallowed and crouched beside her and pressed his soft fur to hers. "I...love you to Cloverstar" He swallowed nervously before licking the back of her ear calmly, trying to calm her.[/color]

"Really?" Cloverstar couldn't stop her voice from squeaking in surprise as she turned her head to face him after he licked her ear. Relief made her limbs numb and she relaxed visibly. "I was afraid you would run me off," she admitted with a small nervous laugh. "But you didn't. That's....that's good," she purred seeming happier than she had been a moment ago. Truth was she had the warm fuzzies now. Even if it went against the warrior code, Cloverstar was glad that Soulstar felt the same way.
