The sun was barely up and Morningpaw sat perched on a boulder, her warm dark brown eyes scanning the territory. On her once injured shoulder, there was barely any evidence of the gash Rabbitpaw had given her. But her shoulder was still stiff and the yellow apprentice was here to stretch the newly healed muscles.
Though warmer than Leafbare mornings, the air was still chilly and she could see her breath when she yawned. After a moment of sitting, she stood up and stretched before springing off of her boulder and sprinting across a stretch of open land like a hare running from one spot of cover to another. She slowed to a stop, limping severely at first as her pace suddenly changed. But her gait returned to normal as she walked along, pausing occasionally to sniff at a tuft of tall grass. A rustle behind her caught her attention and she turned around, staring for a moment before turning back around.

Rabbitpaw padded quietly towards the Boulder Field. He didn't really have a purpose, he just felt like walking. It wasn't long before the former loner realized that her wasn't alone; Rabbitpaw looked around before catching site of Morningpaw, his best friend. His only friend. Rabbitpaw paused for a moment, pondering his thoughts. Didn't you have to have more than one friend to have a best friend? Did Laurel and Mud count as friends? No, he didn't think so, they were family and pretty much required to love him. Of course, Laurel's mother didn't do that... Rabbitpaw shook his head at the confusing thoughts and padded up towards Morningpaw. Hello, Morningpaw! What'cha doing?

Morningpaw whirled around and smiled when she saw Rabbitpaw. "Hi there!" she mewed trotting towards him. "I was just stretching my shoulder. It's a bit stiff," she explained, lifting her paw off of the ground for emphasis. She placed her paw back on the ground and looked up to the other apprentice. "What brings you out here?" she asked, tilting her head slightly.

Rabbitpaw grimaced at the healing gash on Morningpaw's shoulder. The gash he gave to her. As to not to worry his friend, he immedietly put on a smile. What brings me here? Rabbitpaw repeated. Not much, I was just going out for a stroll. He felt a sense of pride when he formed a full sentence; around other cats, he could never know what to say. But around Morningpaw, he did; something he could only do with cats he was truly close to.
